The Art of Gardening
s with any art, the artist needs to have a deep understanding and respect for the medium to achieve the ultimate results. For Guy, his gardens are about spatial relationships and a true sense of place, about sophistication without pretense, with the grace and firmness of symmetry and proportion, and how they affect our everyday lives. The rules of symmetry essential to achieveing classical beauty are strict, as the utmost attention must be paid to maintaining the proper proportions. That said, once pure classicism is realized, great design can play fast and loose with the stylistic point of view.
A Botanical Gallery
As gardens are extended to include fine art, our botanical gardens are becoming galleries where works of art are purposely integrated with outdoor structures, tranquil lawns, reflecting pools, inspirational trees and endless variations of vibrant color.

Artisan Craftsmanship
A history of meticulous craftsmanship touched with antiquity brought into the world of today.

Structural Definition
Structure in a garden creates a sense of organization. It can define scale and proportion; two very underestimated qualities that are critical to great garden design.

Architectural Design
We associate architecture with the exterior form and structure of a home, forgetting that architectural design can extend to the exterior surroundings. “[An] alluring aspect of outdoor design is the understated element of structure.” Unlike the confines of interiors, outdoor structures are unbound. Terraces, courtyards, pools, etc.

Perfection at Conception
The most finely detailed home, large or small, only becomes the perfection of its conception when surrounded by a mature natural setting. The juxtaposition of geometric architectural shapes with free natural plant forms create composition and tension between elements.
